ABOUT

Sara Schwabe Robinson is an actor, singer, educator, and vocal coach based in both Alexandria, MN and the Twin Cities.  With a belief in uniting the performer’s voice, body, and mind, she teaches from a variety of disciplines.  She has trained with SITI Company, Kristin Linklater, Peter Sellars, David Barker, Rachel Bowditch, Bonnie Eckard, Micha Espinosa, Carolyn Finley, and Joan Melton. 

 

Sara teaches theatre at Concordia University St. Paul. She has also taught at Arizona State University, the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University, and St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists. Sara has served as Vocal Coach for productions Minnesota, Tennessee, and Arizona, as well as for business clients with the US State Department in Washington, DC. Her work as an Acting Coach includes both stage and film clients - most notably coaching a commercial that featured Peyton Manning.

 

As an actor, Sara has worked throughout the country. Regionally, she has performed with Red Bird Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, Nimbus, and others. She was the recipient of the Meritorious Achievement in Acting award from the Kennedy Center in 2011. She was a resident artist with the Actors Co-op (Knoxville, TN) from 1998 – 2008.

 

As a singer, Sara is currently performing with 4 to the Bar Cabaret - a customizable, touring variety show. She is the co-founder of the Global Cabaret interactive performance events, the leader of Sara Schwabe & Her Yankee Jass Band, a lead vocalist with Paulette Friday Productions, and has been a guest performer at the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee, as well as at the Ordway in St. Paul. 

 

As an academic, Sara has been an invited speaker at the VASTA voice conferences in Mexico City and the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. She is a member of VASTA, NATS, and Phi Kappa Phi. She received an MFA in Performance from Arizona State University and holds a BA in Vocal Performance from the College of St. Benedict.
